Many kitesurfers don't have Panama on their travel list when it comes to planning the next kite trip. But in Panama, at our spot in Punta Chame, there are fantastic conditions for beginners, advanced and freestyle kiters! So Kitesurfing in Panama is definitely an amazing option.
Panama Kite Center is located directly at the main kitespot in Punta Chame. Florian, the owner, is from Germany and has built an idyllic kite camp to bring people together through kitesurfing. Wind from December to April: perfect to escape the cold.
The kitesurfing conditions at the kitespot in Punta Chame are great, side-onshore wind and usually you go out with kites between nine and twelve square meters. The spot itself forms a large lagoon at mid tide, perfect for beginners and intermediates. At high tide the water reaches close to the kite camp, from where experienced kiters can launch directly and find perfect conditions also for foiling and wing foiling. Only ten minutes away by car, on the other side of the peninsula, there is a nice swell for surfers.
Panama itself is definitely worth a trip. Besides kitesurfing, Panama offers many cultural highlights: the old town Casco Viejo in Panama City is a real party paradise, the San Blas Islands are one of the last real paradise islands in the world, the volcano hike in Boquete,  diving on Isla Coiba, inland the original villages of the indigenous Emberá people  and of course the famous 82km waterway – the Panama Canal.
There are daily flights from Europe to Panama (PTY) with direct flights from Frankfurt, Paris and Amsterdam. With water temperatures of 28° Celsius and air temperatures of 31° the wetsuit can stay at home.
You live directly at the spot, so you will feel the wind in the morning and after a delicious breakfast in the camp's own restaurant you can go directly on the water. On good wind days our team will be happy to take you out on the water until sunset.

Florian, Center Manager

"Kiting during the evening session, when the sun disappears behind the mountains and bathes the sky in the most amazing colours, is always something special for me. Punta Chame as a kite spot is not yet so well known and therefore a real insider tip. Let yourself be enchanted by the lagoon, the sandbanks, its vastness, nice people and the constant wind."

KITESURFING IN PANAMA

Kitespots & Kiteschool

Panama is in the trade wind belt that also supplies Venezuela and the ABC islands with wind. Panama gets a lot of wind from the end of December until April. So perfect timing to head to Panama for some kitesurfing!
Usually the wind is good in the morning, good for early birds or if you still wake up because of the jetlag. An early morning session is always a good start into the day, isn’t it? Over noon the wind becomes weaker which gives you time for lunch and maybe even a siesta. After 3-4pm the wind comes back strong for you to hop on the water again. The afternoon session is typically the windiest of the day. Two sessions a day? Sounds like a kitesurfing holiday how it’s supposed to be.
