+ Sri Lanka is the closest tropic destination from Europe and offers a lot of possibilities for exploring culture and making daytrips
+ Consistent warm and pleasant temperatures
+ KiteWorldWide Beginner & Intermediate courses with unlimited lessons (!)
+ Super friendly people on-the-spot and a stunning landscape
It took a while. Kalpitiya has been on the list of our spots for a while that we wanted to take into our program. A stunning flat water lagoon and wind-proof, comparable to a long season in Brasil. Actually two seasons: from May until October and from December until March. Sri Lanka is the closest tropical destination and accessible with numerous airlines such as the comfortable and affordable Golf Airlines like Emirates and Qatar. Until recently, neither we had an accommodation nor a kite school which would have fit into our concept. Then news of a German architect arrived who set up comfortable but also cosy facilities with his sri lancese wife and whose rooms fit the high European standard. It has been built directly at the lagoon and they wanted to process it entirely to someone else.
+ Family like atmosphere at Ibi & Friends Kiteclub Seahorse Bay
+ Living right at the spot, without TukTuk rides
+ Complete packages for beginner, intermediate and advanced
+ Limited availability for more space on the water
+ NEW: 1 week Movie Gate Hotel including flight and transfer
Thanks to the large shallow-water area and the stable wind direction the spot is perfect for beginners. There is enough space in the lagoon as the number of students and storage slots is limited. This is why neither beginners nor advanced kiters feel restricted. The shallow lagoon with sand and the fact that there are more than 70% windy days a year provides ideal conditions for unforgettable kitesurf sessions. Experienced kitesurfers can kitesurf independent of the tide in the so-called “pool” in the ocean.
+ Perfect wind conditions from March to October, good wind from November to February
+ Exclusively at KiteWorldWide
Directly at the KiteWorldWide Villa Camp you will find the kite lagoon, which makes flat-water fans hearts’ beat two times faster and enables beginners to quickly make their first metres on the board. The spot is influenced by ebb and flow, yet the low tide still leaves the lagoon with sufficient water and space for everyone. Depending on the tidal level you will have a 150m to 300m wide shallow water area just in front of the KiteWorldWide centre. This is where 90 % of you will spend most of the time. The ground is sandy without any disturbing rocks or corals and the wind blows constantly and side-shore from the left. Thus, this spot offers the maximum of safety for beginners and ideal conditions for freestylers. Even during the main high season, when the mass kite cams located about 1,5-2km away on the other side of the lagoon are full, you will always find enough space here.
+ NEW in 2015: The KiteWorldWide Riad
+ Great atmosphere in the old town of Essaouira
+ High wind probabilty
+ KiteWorldWide Guide on site
+ Safe beginners spot with shallow area
+ Great for wave beginners and advanced wave kiters, lots of different spots
+ Nice hotels for different budgets
The Essaouria Bay is the first destination for everyone—beginners and advanced kitesurfers alike! A huge, ca. 4 km long and up to 800 m wide, crescent-shaped sandy beach with wind from the right is the basic ingredient for a prefect kitesurf vacation. From April to October, the strong, dependable winds, strengthened by thermal effects, are accompanied by reduced swell and, therefore, smaller waves. During this period, the wind comes down out of the north and is side shore or side onshore. Since the bay is bent, it is especially safe, because you always end up back on the sandy beach without any obstacles. Further out you’ll find waves with regular intervals, so you always have time to prepare for the next run. It’s even perfect for wave beginners. And halfway up the bay is the KiteWorldWide partner kitesurfing center.
+ Diverse flatwater spot
+ Absolutely reliable wind in winter, good wind statistics in summer
+ VDWS kitecenter with only the latest gear
+ Exclusively at KiteWorldWide
Because of that, also with strong winds the water remains shallow. With high and low tide, the spot changes due to its sand banks and creates great variation for advanced kite surfers.
+ professional teaching from the boat with semi-private lessons
+ cheap flights
The kitesurf spot in Mastichari on Kos offers, in combination with the special and exceptionally professional concept of schooling and constant wind, the perfect conditions to learn kitesurfing or to improve your level. The spot is located directly on a wide sandy beach and offers a 400 meter area for your exclusive entrance.
+ Very high wind probabilty due to reliable thermal wind systems
+ Only about three flying hours away
+ Huge sandy beach with waist deep water
+ KiteWorldWide Best Pro Center
+ KiteWorldWide Kitehouse
+ Season from May until September
The main spot is ideal for beginners and intermediate kitesurfers due to its broad beach, waist deep water and the steady side-onshore wind. The Seafloor consists of fine sand without any rocks or reef. From May till September the Albanian Alps in the south cater for super steady thermal wind that will hit the coast in the early afternoon with 18 to 25 knots. In kite sizes this means usually 8 – 12sm at high season and bigger kites beginning at 12sm at off season. Perfect news for all the party animals and the not-morning-persons among you, or for those who want to explore the area before going all out on the water. As tides don’t really exist in Montenegro you can start kiting whenever the wind kicks in. Due to the warm water, wetsuits are not really necessary in the summer. Some kilometers downwind there is a river mouth with perfect flat water. All the freestylers among you will find the perfect conditions over there to improve your skills.
+ NEW 2015: UNLIMITED kite course packages
+ Spanish lifestyle and epic nightlife
+ High wind probability and mild climate only three flying hours away
+ KiteWorldWide Town House Tarifa for a great community feeling
Tarifa is located on the Strait of Gibraltar where the Atlantic and the Mediterranean meet and Europe and Africa are at some points only 14 km away from one another. Due to the strait and the ocean currents, this area is especially warm—which has a jet effect and increases the wind. During the main summer season (from around July to the middle of September), the beaches are separated into swimming, sunbathing, kitesurfing and kitesurf beginner zones. Any other time, you can kite on any part of the beaches without restrictions. The conditions for a downwinder are perfect at this time of the year and a session or two could be arranged. In Tarifa and the surrounding area, there are tons of spots with different conditions for all kitesurf levels. Of course, it’s also possible to kitesurf at places other than our main spot. The KiteWorldWide team is here for you and would love to give you some tips!
+ Huge flatwater lagoon
+ More than 300 days of wind a year
+ Newly build hotel directly at the spot
+ low priced basic apartments located at first row on the spot
+ Season from March till November
One of the biggest flat water lagoons in Europe. Throughout flat water, knee and waist high. That is Lo Stagnone from Marsala! Two different wind systems, both suitable for kiting – and one of them always works.
At the north eastern end of the lagoon you’ll find Santa Maria and the kite area. At this point, both wind directions kiteable. A complete kitesurf infrastructure, consisting of a wide green area for setting up the equipment, launch and landing area, showers, storage and a restaurant. Everything is covered with the Kitepass, which is included in all KiteWorldWide packages.
Due to the shallow lagoon, you’ll always have perfect flat water. Only in the very middle of the lagoon, the conditions might get slightly choppy.
In the really extremely huge lagoon, you can be sure to always find enough space for practicing your first meters on the board or new freestyle moves.
+ Giant lagoon, sheltered by the reef, with turquoise blue water right in front of the lodge
+ Red Monkey Lodge right at the spot
+ Kitecenter at the lodge with latest gear
+ Winter and Summer destination
+ Exclusively at KiteWorldWide
This exclusive kitesurf spot is located directly in front of our lodge at the east cost of Zanzibar in Jambiani. It provides perfect conditions for beginners, advanced riders and freestyler.
Here, a 2 km long sandbank forms a large shallow water lagoon, a perfect place for our lessons and trainings. We use equipment from Best Kiteboarding and ION gear. The VDWS licensed instructor and our partner school, KiteWorldWide Center Zanzibar / Jambiani speaks English and German.
Only 5 km north of your “homespot” you will find the popular Spot: Pajé. The Water is shallow too. During the summer advanced kiters are able to do a downwinder to Pajé.
The winter kitesurf season lasts from December till March. During the summer you can kitesurf from June until October. The wind is always sideshore and during the kitesurf seasons really reliable.
