The KiteWorldWide throwback 2017

Hey there!

One last time for this year, before it’s time to celebrate the new year. We don’t want to hold on for long and look back on 2017 with you. We are looking forward to next year with even more time on the beach, extensive sessions at wonderful spots and evenings together!

The KiteWorldWide throwback 2017: Here we go!

With GoPro in Zanzibar

We discovered the island with GoPro for a week. Zanzibar has so many beautiful spots. From kitesurfing in a dreamlike lagoon, SUP tours through the mangrove forest, snorkeling in crystal clear water, yoga, to boat trips, or simply delicious food. In the same breath really cool photos were taken, which we don’t want to withhold from you.

Roadtrip to Montenegro

Our colleagues Kiki and Lena went on a roadtrip for the beginning of the season in Montenegro. They had to drive 1000 miles trough the snowy alps, beautiful coastal roads and green forests until the arrived in Ulcinj. They had stopovers at their friends houses or in beautiful little villages. And of course: The first thing they did in Ulcinj was kitesurfing.

Their first evening ended with a cold beer and some fresh seafood.

Roadtrip with the KWW truck to Sardinia

Hit the road, again!
After Marco and Josie went on a road trip across Europe, from Tarifa and Essaouria to Dakhla last year, this year’s motto was:”Pack things up and let’s go! But this time it wasn’t the Moroccan desert that was on the agenda, but La Dolce Vita. The most beautiful kitespots around the island of Sardinia wanted to be explored with their huge offroad truck.

But the wind didn’t really play along at the beginning and so there was only the possibility to foilboard on the west coast. But, of course, it didn’t stay that way for long. Just in time for Easter the wind came back and the two of them finally unpacked their boards and kites at the spot of Is Solinas.

With KiteWorldWide trough the summer

We spend so much time at the beach and met many cool people. The Kitesurf Worldcup at Fehmarn, Germany was a great event with lots of action and a legendary party. But we also spend much time at St. Peter Ording or at the best kitesurf spots in Denmark. Next year we want to be more often at the beach and shred the water with you as often as possible! If you spot us somewhere just step by to have a beer or two and say hello :)

New KiteWorldWide team member: Tom Court

It was a great pleasure when Tom Court agreed to become our new team rider for the UK market. We couldn’t even believe it at first. But we are delighted that we have had a strong partner at our side since spring this year. His progressive riding style and movies made him famous, meanwhile he kitesurfs for North Kiteboarding and spends more time around the world on the board than in his home country.

He kitesurfs almost his whole life and he shares those experiences with you during his Slice of Life Clinics. Whether intensive training, chill or a beer or two: Tom pushes himself and others to the limit and knows how make the most out of it. We’re glad that you are part of the team, Tom!

New KiteWorldWide team member: Linus Erdmann

Since October we have another familiar face in our ranks: Four-time German champion Linus Erdmann. With his 21 years he is already one of the best. Now the kite scene is open to him! Together with his girlfriend Loni, his buddy Fabi and KiteWorldWide he travels around the world.

From Amsterdam to Brest he accompanied the catamaran crossing for the Kite & Sail Trip on the Canary Islands. In Tarifa and Egypt at the World Kiteboarding League he proved his skills, but the journey goes on. Cape Town is the last spot for this year at least, and in the new year great things come up.

You can read what Linus experiences in our destinations in the Travel Diary. Or watch the accompanying video, because Linus is shooting pretty cool videos at the same time. We are very pleased that you are part of the KiteWorldWide family, Linus!

The KiteWorldWide House at Cape Verde

“Good things take time!” It took a long time until we found the perfect accommodation in Cape Verde. But suddenly it was right in front of us: The KiteWorldWide Kite House. Since February we now have our own house on the Cape Verde Islands. Here you can experience the ultimate island and kite feeling with up to 40 like-minded people. The wave paradise on the doorstep and the kite school run by none other than the wave champion himself: Mitu Monteiro.

In spring 2018 you will have the opportunity to experience six days of intensive training together with our partner Kiteboarding Events. If you haven’t tried it out in the wave before, you will have the chance to try out the first wave-steps or improve your skills. Of course you will also live in our new kite house.

Off to Denmark: KiteWorldWide team event

Maybe not as long planned as the KiteWorldWide House in Sal on Cape Verde, but not less beautiful: The KiteWorldWide Team Event in Denmark. During the long weekend at the beginning of October, the entire Hamburg team, with a number of partners from the destinations, left for Denmark. We spent a few days there relaxing, discovering Ringköbing Fjord and Hvide Sande, but also learning a lot. But after work came the pleasure. In the morning we had some workshops and presentations before we went on the water in the afternoon and in the evening we had a beer or two.

Your opinion matters to us!

The whole year we have sent surveys to our guests after the vacation and half of you answered to those surveys. We want to know what you liked the most or what are things to improve. Special thanks to all of you who answered those questions! We couldn’t end the year with a better rate, because 95 percent said, that they want to travel with us again and 96 percent would recommend us to others. Thanks a lot!

News from Sri Lanka: The KiteWorldWide Dreamspot

Since this summer we have a new destination for you: The Dreamspot in Sri Lanka. Kalpitiya is well known as a surf hotspot, but at the Dreamspot you have the lagoon or the sea side just for yourself. From time to time other kitesurfers pass by on a downwinder. And best of all, there are two seasons. From May to October and from December to March. This means that the nearest tropical kitesurfing destination is also a very windproof area.

Find peace and relaxation in the middle of an exotic garden, where the accommodation has been built around. What are you waiting for?

Kite & Sail: Paradisical Spots at the Caribbean

We wouldn’t be KiteWorldWide if we didn’t have more to offer. A few years ago, Jürgen, one of the founders, took a Sail & Kite trip in the Caribbean. He was so enthusiastic about this that from the beginning of next year, there will not only be sailing and kitesurfing along the Canary Islands, but also in the Caribbean. But also your numerous feedback about the catamaran trip to the Canary Islands gave us the idea. Together with us you can go on a discovery tour and make stops at any spot, wherever you want to kite. For 14 days you stay on a luxurious catamaran and sail from island to island. Across turquoise-blue water, past powder-white beaches and with the best spots at anchor.

At the very end: Merry Christmas from our office

And now: Cheers!

Let’s hope that 2018 will bring more wind, sun and action for all of us. Have a nice New Year’s Eve!

Hang loose,
Leona
