Michael Schitzhofer joins the KiteWorldWide team!

KiteWorldWide has a new team rider: Michael Schitzhofer from Austria.

He is supporting our team riders Anne Valvatne (Norway, KiteWorldWide headquarters office in Hamburg) and Nils Wesch (Germany).

We first met Michi in October 2014 at a Founders Kite Club event in Tarifa and the chemistry was just right from the beginning. He is super friendly and we liked his layed back Austrian style at first sight. When he mentioned working together, we were totally on it. In January we finally met again in person in Cape Town and locked the deal.

From now on, Michi will report about certain events in his column on a regular basis, like the PKRA Worldcups around the globe.

In addition, he will host special freeride & freestyle camps and clinics in different KiteWorldWide destinations. The main focus of these camps is not a hardcore freestyle training, but rather sessions to improve freeride and style. Only intermediate and advanced kiters (able to stay upwind) can participate in these special camps. Michi will teach you how to jump and look awesome while doing it.

We planned special camps in Dakhla, Montenegro, Egypt, Brazil, Kenya and Cape Town. More infos are coming soon!

Here we have gathered some background information on Michis’ kite history:

Michi is 27 years old and he is originally from Austria. He learned to love kitesurfing in the year of 2000. After seeing Mark Shinn on Tenerife, he knew he had to try this amazing sport himself. Back home at lake Neusiedlersee he bought his first kite together with a friend and got addicted the same second. Ever since, his life is all about kitesurfing and he is still as motivated and enthusiastic as on his first day. The last seven years he participated in the PKRA Worldcup and traveled all around the world. He loves his lifestyle with all its ups and downs.

His sponsors are Best-Kiteboarding, Quiksilver, Move-Surfstore and Sportpool-Burgenland.

Now we are proud to welcome this new team member at KiteWorldWide.

A few days ago he arrived in Panama, where the first PKRA worldcup 2014 takes place. Great success for you Michi! If you’re interested in that event, check out Michi’s column here!
