Over the past few years, thousands of kite enthusiasts have gathered at the North Sea beach, cheered for the world’s top kiters or even joined in on the action. Apart from the top sports services, there will also be legendary parties and live concerts, which for the nine days has become a huge must-go-to event.
With 135,000 spectators at the Beetle Kitesurf World Cup 2011, the beautiful Ording beach was turned into a unique spot and party platform. A total of 22 nations were represented by the 130 starters. Youri Zoon from the Netherlands and the Spaniard Gisela Pulido won the title of the new world champion in freestyle PRKA this year and hope to defend their title. Mario Rodwalk, Rendsburg freestyle Vice European Champion Nils Wesch and young professionals from long Ballin are competing amongst the top ten this year at the World Cup St. Petersburg. In the women’s competition, the nine-time world champion Kristin Boese of Potsdam and Hamburg, Sabrina Lutz are some of the front-runners.
Big names, spectacular races. In addition to the kite duels, side events with BMX and skateboarding will take place on site at the event.
Not only can the kite be admired, but also tested. The “Kitelife Village,” one of the world’s largest manufacturer fairs, will be displaying the latest gear and equipment. Different manufacturers will entice the visitors with their amusing campaigns and admirable stands.
Taking place every year, the grand finale is the N-JOY beach party; live bands play as the sun’s setting and the latest DJs continue right up until the sun rises.
Last year was a complete success and the KiteWorldWide team is ready for this year-we can feel our feet in the sand…
