A typical kite day in Jambiani – Zanzibar

It’s 8 o´clock, I am checking the tide chart.

The KiteWorldWide school in Jambiani, Zanzibar opens a bit earlier than usual today in order to get more time on the water. The wind is picking up nicely around 16 knots. Abdallah has been here a good hour playing on the beach.

We are only three riders this morning.  Its time to enjoy the pristine flat water and show off a little by the sandbank ..!

It´s lunch time! We get so hungry out there. It was a good day start on the water and we have also spotted fishermen arriving on the beach to catch of the day as we did.

It’s time to come back before high tide, when it gets almost impossible to land safely on the beach.

The beach assistant comes over into the water and helps us land on the sandbank, water waist deep.

We can have a meal at the Lodge sheltered from the wind and sun. It’s also possible to rent a bicycle or scooter just besides the lodge, looking for food and adventures.

I think we have three hours left before the next kite session starts.

It’s 3 pm, the wind has picked up and tide goes out. We use now 9m kites. Julian is definitely overpowered with the 12…

7 pm, as the sun goes down, more kids have arrived on the beach to play games. Before dark. it might be a great time to meet the inhabitants of Jambiani.
Of course it’s beer-time at the Red Monkey lodge (or try the local cocktail “Dawa”…) Anyway, let’s get barefoot and lazy…

Julian will have a romantic dinner. On a weekly basis acoustic concerts or events on the beach are organized. Tonight the managers of the lodge and the village have planned a beach party with traditional dances and music. Wonderful and unique time to share before falling asleep and getting ready for another kite day in paradise.
