Brazil. It’s an alluring place that almost everyone has dreamed of visiting at some point. Caipirinha, Samba and endless beaches… That’s what it’s all about, right? That is what it WAS all about. For years kitesurfers have searched for destinations that combine the mythical characteristics – strong reliable wind, untouched fine sandy beaches with rolling waves and plenty of space on the water. Have you ever dreamt about such a place? Then you may just have discovered the best one on the planet.

When you join us on our Kite Surf Safari in Brazil, you can say goodbye to the crowded beaches and mass tourism. You will say hello to expansive flatwater lagoons and pristine northeast beaches, scouted for you by our pros. With no more than 8 guests on tour, you will have plenty of space to fly over the water.

And since life is a journey, why not ride it with style? What better way of travelling can you think of, than with your kite? That’s right, we will travel by kite along the beaches of Northeast Brazil, while the 4X4 truck follows us close by, while we are kiting on the ocean until the next flat water lagoon!

Your best bet is the 21 day Kombo- Safari because heaven is a big place! But if your time is limited you can choose between 3 Kite-Safari Tours.

Tour I is a classic, and it takes you from Lagoinha to Tatajuba. Because of high demand we offer a second tour.

Tour II will bring you by car or boat to the best wave spots and flat water lagoons far beyond Tatajuba, to Barra Grande and the wild north.

Tour III brings you even further into the North, until Atins. Dreamlike Flatwater lagoons, seperated by fine sandy dunes and perfect wave spots. Who remembers the Red Bull Rally Dos Ventos, knows what to expect.

Give us a call or email and get set for the ride of your life. The wind is ready and the waves are rolling!

Kitesurfing safari in Brazil with KiteWorldWide

Yes we know, you have plenty of package tour offers to choose between. So here’s a list of reasons why our tours rock the funky house, where others are merely toe tappers!

  • Transportation – Forget about dangerous dodgy old beach buggies, that breakdown or rollover. We ride with style: fully air conditioned new 4×4 pick-ups. Of course we also love the small adorable beach buggies, but let’s admit it – you don’t want to sit in it for hours. There is nothing more disturbing to a good kite tour than having to wait for hours in the dunes for the buggy to be repaired, meanwhile your mates have already reached the first dream spot (we’ve gone through this enough times to know!).
  • Accommodations – Forget the generic three star tourist traps! When you ride with us, you stay overnight in cool, luxurious, stylish Brazilian Pousadas, often run by other kitesurfers.
  • Mostly we spend at least two nights in the Pousadas, because even if the kite safari with KiteWorldWide is a kitesurfing challenge we want you to relax during your holiday. Nothing worse than staying in the most beautiful pousadas, but no time to enjoy the space because you are racing from one downwinder to another?
  • Group size – We never take groups of more than eight people divided on two pick-ups! You get lots of bang for your buck and a big part of that is SPACE.
  • One of the tour guides is English and German speaking, VDWS licensed trainer, with whom you can practice freestlye tricks or add the last touch to your downwind technique.

Tour 1: Lagoinha – Guajiru – Fleixeras – Icaraizinho – Prea – Jericoacoara – Tatajuba

Before the first day:

If you like to arrive a few days prior to the kite safari, in order to get used to the climate, we would be happy to arrange an individual airport transfer and to book some extra nights for you!

1st Day:

The safari begins with a kite session in front of our pousada in Guajiru where we can warm up for the days ahead of us. During low tide the water in front of the pousada is pretty flat due to a reef. On high tide there are some nice waves to play with. We will spend the night in Guajirú.

2nd Day:

In the morning we will drive to Lagoinha. From here on we start our first downwinder to Guajirú. Before going back onto the water right in front of our next Pousada we can relax a bit by the pool and have a snack to charge up the batteries. The night we will spend in Guajirú.

3rd Day:

The third day begins with a downwinder to Emboaca, where a nice wave spot awaits you. Afterwards, we will drive back to the pousada. Until sunset you can enjoy the nice spot in Guajirú. Kiting right in front of your apartment. If you would rather relax and take a break after all this amazing kite action in Emboaca, you can also chill in the hammocks watching the others taking it all out on the water.

4th Day:

With the 4×4 you will drive to Mundaú for some flat water kiting. Even though it is a perfect spot you should take it easy because afterwards you will be doing a long downwinder to Icaraizinho de Amontada, where you will spend the night. There you can relax and treat your sore muscles.

5th Day:

In the morning you will kite to the secret spot of Icaraizinho de Amontada. The coast on the way runs along a beautiful sandstone landscape. That’s already the first highlight of the day. At the river delta you are usually completely on your own with flat water conditions as far as the eye can see. This is where you can practice your latest tricks until sunset. You will stay the night in a pousada in Icaraizinho.

6th Day:

After getting up you will drive to Preá for your first kite session of the day. Later you do a beautiful downwinder during sunset straight to Jericoacoara. You will spend the night there and enjoy the nightlife of the town. Jeri is a former hippie town and built completely in the sand. This is what makes it so special and creates a very unique charm, but also the nights can get pretty wild here.

7th Day:

The next downwinder is from Jeri to Guriu. Guriú is a river mouth with an amazing flat water spot, which all you freetsylers will love. Later on the day you will return to Jeri and enjoy a nice cool beer or caipirinha, while watching the beautiful sunset on the famous dune of Jericoacoara and rave on about the recent impressions.

8th Day

After having a rich breakfast at the pousada you will start the 8th day of your safari with another downwinder to Guriu for some flat-water sessions. Later on you do another downwinder to the amazing spot of Tatajuba with an awesome accommodation in the KiteWorldWide pousada Tatajuba, where you will spend the last night of the Tour.

After the last day:

You want to stay longer or keep on travelling north with your kite? You have the opportunity of doing the next safari into to the wild north of Brazil. You have the following options, that we are more than happy to organise for you:

  • Kitesafari Tour 2 and Tour 3 to the wilde north
  • Extension days in the KiteWorldwide Pousada Tatajuba

Before the first day:

If you would like to arrive a few days before the kite safari, we would be happy to arrange an individual airport transfer and to book some extra nights for you!

1st Day:

There you can relax in your luxurious pousada right on the beach, with a sundowner beer.

3rd Day:

The third day begins with a downwinder from Barra Grande straight to the lagoon. There you will find butter flat water again that gets every freestyler completely stoked. The lagoon is surrounded by a rich mangrove forest that creates an almost surreal atmosphere.
Afterwards you will be picked up by the donkey express back to the pousada.

4th Day:

Depending on the mood of the group you have the choice of beginning the day with a downwinder from a spot south-easth towards Barra Grande or with a downwinder from Barra to Macapá followed by another session at the unique lagoon.

5th Day:

After a rich breakfast you will be kiting through the Barra Grande Delta, the car is meanwhile driving around the delta. Later you will continue with a nice downwinder along almost untouched nature up to Luis Correia. The next pousada is located at Ilha das Canárias right in the middle of a river delta surrounded by a mangrove forest. It can only be reached by boat or kite and is an absolute highlight of the trip. There you will have the complete Amazonas feeling for the next three days.

6th Day:

The morning starts with a boat cruise to a sand bank where you can choose between flat water on one side and a wave session on the open sea. Afterwards, if you want to, you will take a downwinder through the river back to the pousada. At the evening there is the possibility to book a boat safari to observe the wildlife of the delta.

The sixth day begins with another kite session at the sand bank followed by a downwinder with incredible waves. After the downwinder you will have a nice hike over the dunes to a river where you will be picked up by a boat. Luzia, we will move on to discover the national park with its thousands of crystal clear blue water lagoons. Here we will stay and watch the sunset.

4th Day:

The last day in Atins something else very special is waiting for us. The river mouth of Atins has a 2 km long sandbank in the exact right position for the wind. Downwind

If you think you’ve got your chops and you are ready to ride like a rock star, then this is THE downwind tour in Brazil for you. But seriously, you need to be in shape and have some decent skills to handle this twenty-mile plus ride. That’s right, with a good downwinder you can kitesurf for about twenty miles at high cruising speeds, without the annoying upwind tacking. You need to safely handle self-rescue, quick kite relaunch on water and have some experience with kitesurfing through dynamic conditions in addition to being in a physically good shape. So be aware, this is NOT A TOUR FOR BEGINNERS!

But if you can hang with the ‘pros’, then you’re in for an unforgettable experience. And even though the kited distance is almost as long as a marathon, you won’t need to suffer. The pick-up will be driving along on the beach, not only for safety reason but also equipped with comfy seats and cold beverages if you’d like to chill for a bit. And there’s always someone on hand to get you back enjoying the water and the wind.

Equipment

Remember, you are not going for a normal boring holiday to El Gouna and you will for sure spend 4-8 hrs on the water every day. This means bringing up-to-date proper equipment, as you will be giving all your gear a serious work out for many hours each day.

It is especially important that you bring a smaller kite, as the wind will pick up and get really strong the more north we ride. In Jeri the 9 m2 is in most cases too big! A second board, or a wave board and a spare bar should be in your kit. More is better in this case!

A normal kitesurfer is recommended to bring:

Kites 7, 9 and 11 square meters (female or lightweight riders one or two sizes smaller), 2 bars, twin tip and wave board, spare parts, extra lines, ropes, straps, fins and screws (!). Oh, and you don’t need your neoprene wetsuit ;), but a Lykra, high sunfactor and sunblock for the lips.

Accommodations

The accommodations are good to high standard and most of them are designed by and for kitesurfers. When it’s time to chill, you can do it by the pool, or right on the beach. When it’s time to crash for the night, you’ll do it with a hot private shower and comfy clean bed. When it’s time for breakfast, you’ll pile your plate high with an array of fresh fruits that will put your local supermarket to shame. Throw in some eggs, meat, bread, smoothies and you’ll be fueled up for a good long ride. (*Note – They just don’t have proper Muesli here, so if you’re coo coo for Coco Puffs then you might have to smuggle some through the customs).
