Seahorse Bay Kite Oasis Between Hurghada and El Gouna

Our longtime partner and friends from Ibi & Friends have discovered and developed Seahorse Bay between Hurghada and El Gouna for Kiters. The new, comfortable kite villa has recently been completed and was opened in March 2011. There are three things right at this new spot with its shallow lagoon that we haven’t found in Egypt up to this point:

1.  Accommodations right at the spot: You have the choice between two          different hotels right at the spot with up to 5 min. walking distance from the new kite station. Missing winds because of rickshaw rides or bus schedules are a thing of the past.

2. Limited guest numbers for more room on the water: The number of kite learners and areas for kite storage are limited, so you’ll always have enough room on the water.

3. Kiting at low tide: The water runs back into Seahorse Bay at low tide. You’ll get a “pool” in the ocean in which you can surf no matter what the tide does.

The Seahorse Bay Village private beach is only 15 minutes from the Hurghada airport. The shallow lagoon with powdery sand has over 70% windy days a year and makes for the best conditions for unforgettable kiting sessions.

Your accommodations are right at the spot and only 15 km north of Hurghada and about 10 km south of El Gouna. Since is the spot is only accessible through a private beach, you’ll have exclusive use of the water and beach and can go to El Gouna or Hurghada for shopping or going out.

Kite Club Seahorse Bay

Our brand-new Kite Club is located right at the spot on a private lot of about 1400 m². Along with the kite villa, there’s a large 1200 m² garden which is kept nice and neat with direct access to the beach and the spot. You’ll find showers here along with hammocks and other sitting areas which are perfect for relaxing after kite sessions.

Right next to the entrance to the beach is our material storage area where you can store your own kiting equipment. It’s also offers the perfect atmosphere for hanging out with people just like you. In the evenings, you can hang out at the fire ring in the garden after a long day of kiting and talk about your experiences.

The focal point of the Kite Club is spread out over 200 m²: The kite villa with the large terrace around it. There’s also a small bar here where you can enjoy tasty snacks with alcohol-free drinks like Egyptian tea at wholesale prices (cokes for €0.07). You’ll also have the option to store your own alcoholic beverages here. Additionally, there is a reading corner in the chill out area, satellite TV, and a DVD player for recordings from your day on the water or movies. A changing room with warm showers and restroom and, of course, safes for your private valuables. There is also a workout machine for those who aren’t too tired.

There are also small items such as trapezes, board shorts, and wetsuits available for purchase in the small shop. Due to the comfortable and open layout of the villa, you’ll have the feeling that you’re in a good friend’s living room and not in a kite station – absolutely perfect.

The Kite Club Seahorse Bay offers up to 25 kiters to store gear (kite service), kite rental, and kite surfing lessons with professional and VDWS licensed instructors in an exclusive and familiar atmosphere.

Due to the limited number of guests, you’ll have more than enough room on the water and beach.

The gear available at the Kite Club is from F-One (Kites: Bandit Dos, III, Revolt in 5.5 to 14 m², Boards: Trax, TX, Acid) and Spleene (Kites: Q5-Q12, Boards: Rip, Session, RIP HT, Door, Q5-Q12)

KiteWorldWide Vacation Packages

Just like at many other KiteWorldWide destinations, we offer no-worries packages for maximum fun in Egypt – without hidden costs.

These packages cover your desired accommodations and transportation to and from the airport. You’ll also get a kiting course which includes all of your gear during the course AND the rest of your trip. Experienced kiters can choose special packages with a course and rental gear or bring their own (storage, rescue service & use of the Kite Club included in the package).

We also offer two awesome excursions, so you’ll see more of Egypt than just the kite spot and your hotel which are included in your price.

We’ll take you out on discovery trips for two nights. You’ll head to old Hurghada with a local where you’ll experience Egypt for real. You can snatch up some good deals at a bazaar and try some local delicacies. We can’t go more in the other direction than with our second evening excursion to the tourist city El Gouna. For lots of regular vacation Joe-shmoes, this is paradise – you should see it at least once just to be able to talk about it. We’ll show you the best restaurants and bars in the marina. You can smoke hookah, chill out, and party it up.

One night a week is set aside every week at the Kite Club Seahorse Bay. We hang out by the fire and chat about the newest kites and movies with hookah in the garden.

For periods with less wind, we have prepared snorkeling to check out the nearby reefs. This is also included, so you won’t pay any extra!

You can purchase your own alcoholic beverages and store them in the Kite Club (tip: just buy them before your flight from the duty free shops.) To keep up the familiar atmosphere at the Kite Club, you have the option to keep them cool in the Kite Club cafeteria.

Learning to Kite in Egypt

The professional instructors at the Kite Club Seahorse Bay teach in English or German, if you want. All instructors are licensed and teach in small groups of up to 4 people, so you can make progress as quickly as possible.

Thanks to the large standing area and the stable wind direction, the spot is perfect for beginners. There is enough room in the lagoon for two groups, so neither beginners nor advanced learners feel like they have no room. The two starting places guarantee that starting and landing kiters always have enough room. You can concentrate more on kiting and make progress faster. Our rental gear is all from F-One and Slingshot. If you take a kiting course, you can also get your VDWS kite license right away that confirms your current kite level and allows you to rent gear around the world.

For more advanced kiters, we offer courses to improve your technique and to reach the next (VDWS) level.

Calimera Club Hotel Hurghada – All inclusive right next door

This hotel is located south of the kite station at the hotel’s own private and beautiful sandy beach that is right next to the kite spot. It’s only 5 walking minutes along the beach to the Kite Club.

The large club hotel is comprised of a main building with other buildings around it and bungalows. It has a reception area with a lobby (safes available for a fee), a bar, main restaurant and an Italian and Middle Eastern à la carte restaurants, elevators, club, and an amphitheater.

There is also a professional diving school located here. It’s great for beach vacation, especially with children (shallow water).

Within the club facilities, you’ll find an attractive pool area as well as a terrace with beach chairs and umbrellas (included at the pool and hotel beach).

There’s lots for non-kiters and children to do. There’s even an in-house kids’ club to entertain the children while mom and dad are kiting through our bay.

All rooms are comfortably decorated with a bath, hair dryer, air-conditioning/heater, telephone, satellite TV, mini fridge. You can book rooms especially for families.

The all-inclusive package includes large buffets in different restaurants for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and even snacks between 7:00am and midnight. You can also get all national alcoholic drinks between 10:00am and midnight as well as soft drinks.

Alternative Activities

The beaches around the Kite Club Seahorse Bay are ideal for playing some beach volleyball or just enjoying the sun.

Usually the regular excursions to Cairo or Luxor with the Valley of the Kings are offered. You can book these locally with our team, i.e. if you don’t have much wind one day.

The Red Sea is also known for its beautiful diving areas and diving or snorkeling trips. KiteWorldWide guests can get snorkeling gear for free from our Kite Club. Diving excursions or lessons are available at the diving school 5 minutes away – which has its own diving boats that start right at Calimera.
