Ruegen is Germany’s biggest island in the Baltic Sea in front of the Pomeranian coast in Mecklenburg Vorpommern. For visitors it is popular for its varied nature and the long, clean and fine sanded beaches.

For water sport enthusiasts Ruegen is not only famous for its beautiful beaches but also for its good wind conditions.

This island is perfect for families and kite surfer. There are a lot of baltic resorts, spa areas, and sights like the famous chalk cliff or Germanys most famous, historic rail: The Racing Roland.

Additionally Ruegen has many walkways and bicycle routes on which you can explore the whole island individually.

Our partners on Rügen are the guys from ProBoarding. Their school is located at the southernmost part of Rügen, close to the Baltic resort Thiessow on the peninsula Moenchgut.

A peninsula has a lot of advantages for kite surfers: You can go kitesurfing no matter from which direction the wind blows. Close to the main spot there is another spot where you can kite wherever the wind comes from. The advantage for you is that you don´t have to search a long time for a different spot when the wind direction changes.

Both spots are at sandy beaches where you have enough space to build up your kite stuff.

For beginners there is an area with shallow water where you can learn kitesurfing under very good conditions.

If you are already an intermediate rider you also have the chance to proof or better your wave riding skills at a close by wave spot.

You see- Ruegen is fun for every kitelevel and almost all styles of riding!

The ProBoarding kiteschool is directly located at your accommodation, only two minutes walking distances to the main kitebeach.

The school and all teachers are VDWS licensed so you get qualified lessons in small groups and can also make your kite license with which you can rent kite material and proof yourself as a qualified kitesurfer.

The peninsula Moenchgut is the southernmost part of Ruegen. The Baltic resort Thiessow is close by and invites you to relax. There are also a lot of events like concerts, open-air cinema and many more.

The local kitchen is very good for gourmets because of its culinary finesse.

You can also explore Ruegen by bike –individually and without time schedule. You will get an overwhelming impression of the beauty and unique landscape of Ruegen.

Ruegens beautiful beaches are not only good for kitesurfer but also ideal for long walks or the search for amber which you can find here.

Another thing you should not miss is the fascinating chalk cliff which inspired the famous paintor Caspar David Friedrich to paint one of his most famous pictures or take a ride with the historic train Racing Roland to enjoy the landscape from another point of view.

Mit dem Auto

Seit dem Bau der neuen Autobahn und der „Stresaund Brücke“ inkl. Zubringer ab der A20 kommt man mit dem Auto in unter drei Stunden von Berlin und Hamburg auf diese größte Insel Deutschlands.

Mit dem Zug

Die Insel wird täglich aus Richtung Hamburg und Berlin mehrfach mit dem Zug angefahren. Wir bieten euch an, vergünstigte Zugtickets, sogenannte RIT Tickets, bei uns zu erwerben. Mit diesen könnt ihr zum Festpreis ohne Zugbindung mit der Bahn nach Rügen kommen. Vom Bahnhof „Stralsund“ sind es nur noch ca. 20 Taxi Minuten.

Das RIT Ticket bis 400 km kostet Hin- und zurück 59,- € pro Person, ab 401 km 115,- € (Maßgeblich sind die Bahnkilometer)
